A different kind of heat.

(updated)

Today was my hottest day so far: 39°C, and that's in the shade. If you happen to have a flat tire in the desert - like me today - you'd better find some. In the sun the temperature seems to have no limits. 50°C are easily reached. At such a temperature water slowly starts to think about boiling. At such a temperature grease starts to drip out of the bearings. At such a temperature things like glue start to melt. So further down the road I lost my derailleur switch protection thingy (the length of its name is inversely proportional to its importance so never mind).

I took a break at a taco stand, sat in the shade and had a cool drink. And another one. And another one. After 1 liter it was time for a break, before I started with my own drinking water.

This is nothing like a typically Dutch hot day. It is a dry heat. But at 9 in the morning it is already 30°C, and at 6 in the evening it still is.

So I'd better do like the Mexicans: take a siesta. Or go high into the mountains. The latter is what I will do. Durango here I come!

(originally I wrote in this text "its name is inversionally proportional to its unimportance", so you see what the heat does to me...)
