Escape from the cape

Today I escaped from the USA. Officially it was called San José del Cabo, situated at the southern tip of Baja, but still it was the USA.

The same houses, the same buildings. The same people, the same language, the same money. The same cars with the same license plates. The same food. The same English speaking Mexicans serving you. The same fences saying "propriedad privada, no pasar" (which translates into US English as "fuck off"). Officially the beaches in Mexico are public, but what will happen when all beach front lots are American property?

San José del Cabo is a copy of San Diego, a copy of Florida, a copy of Oahu, a copy of the Spanish Costa del Sol.

In 50 years the whole world will look the same. We will eat and drink the same, watch the same movies, watch the same TV. Listen to the same music, eat the same food, by the same brands. Why? Capitalism will have killed anything else.

I'm glad I'm back in Mexico.
